          Lessons

We offer groundwork lessons for $35.00 per person, per half hour.  Our students range from absolute beginners, to those transferring from other barns who have ridden before.  Students can begin riding at seven years old.  Below is a general overview of what you will learn while attending lessons at the Red Buffalo.

          Tacking Up

Tacking up is the first thing we teach our students.  They will learn how to groom, saddle, and bridle their horse before riding.  During this process the students also learn the parts of the horse, saddle, and bridle.  Tacking up is a part of the lesson. Once the student can tack up on their own they will have more time to ride in the ring.

          The Basics

After learning how to tack up, the student will learn the basics of riding.  The basics include learning how to steer, stop, and go.  We will also focus on balance and form.  All exercises will be done at a walk until the instructor feels the student is ready to move on to a faster pace.

          Skills You Will Learn

Each student is different and learns at a their own pace.  After learning how to tack up their horse and the basics of riding, we will devise a lesson plan for each student.  As riders advance they will learn . . .
